Located almost halfway between Kuala Lumpur and the state capital Shah Alam in Selangor, Malaysia, lies the city of Subang Jaya. Bandar Sunway, Batu Tiga, Putra Heights, Subang Jaya SS12-SS19, and USJ make up the northern and southern ends of the city, respectively. Malaysians from the top to middle classes seek sanctuary in the city. Since 1997, when it was granted municipal privileges and separated from Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam, the city has expanded quickly. It was mostly a residential region when it first began to grow, but it has since become a metropolis of international repute.
