The word "Klong" from the Mon-Khymer language is whence the name Klang originated. Klong can be considered a warehouse, similar to how C.O. Blagden described Klang as a significant port with a lot of warehouses. Charles A. Fishr, on the other hand, believed that "Klang" meant "canal" or "waterway." This viewpoint was shared because to the abundance of streams in Klang, including Sungai Klang, Sungai Bertek, Sungai Pinang, and many more.
